Operator help
How to do your prestart, what to do when something is wrong, and who clears it.
Doing your prestart
- Scan the QR code on the machine with your phone camera. Choose Logbook / prestart.
- Answer each check honestly. If something is wrong, mark it as a fault and add a note saying what you saw.
- Enter the hour meter reading as it shows on the machine.
- Sign with your finger and submit.
If something is wrong
- A fault you mark becomes a defect on the machine's record.
- A red Do not operate screen means a critical defect is open. Do not use the machine.
- If the machine becomes unsafe during your shift, stop, make it safe, and report it from the same QR code (Logbook / prestart).
Who clears it
The person in charge of the machine. If you work alone, that is you: fix the fault, then sign in and close the defect with what you did.
Site induction
- Scan the site QR code, usually at the gate or sign-in point.
- Read the site's SWMS and the risk assessments for the machines on site.
- Answer the questions, then sign with your finger.
An induction lasts 12 months. You may need to do it again if the site's SWMS changes.
The QR labels
The label outside the machine and the label in the cab are the same QR code. Scanning it asks what you want: Logbook / prestart to do your prestart, or Machine information to see the machine's status, paperwork, service history and safety documents. You can also download or share the machine's records from there.
Common problems
- The QR code will not scan
- Wipe the label clean and try again, holding your phone steady. If it still will not scan, ask for a new label.
- The page says not found
- The label has probably been replaced. Ask the person in charge for the new one.
- No phone signal
- Do your prestart as soon as you have signal. Do not operate the machine until it is done, if that is your site's rule.
- I entered the wrong hour meter
- Tell the person in charge. The entry is flagged so it can be checked.
